Samsung Electronics Co. announced today that they have developed a new mobile memory chip that is thinner than its current chip and uses less power. It’s the size that is the best part as this is the first 1GB DRAM chip to reach the market.
The new chip is at least 20 percent thinner than existing chipsets that use up to two 512-megabit chips, and it uses about 30 percent less power, the company said in a press release.
The new chip can also be used in a wide range of advanced handset applications as well as for digital still cameras, portable media players and portable gaming products.
