What is Google Base?
Google Base is a place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content, which we’ll make searchable on Google (if your content isn’t online yet, we’ll put it there). You can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people find it when they do related searches. In fact, based on your items’ relevance, users may find them in their results for searches on Froogle, Google Maps and even our main Google web search.

The main purpose of the Background Remover is to extract some part of an image i.e. “the object” and remove part that which is unwanted, i.e. “the background”. It is capable of determining areas of pixels to be modified, areas of pixels to be partly modified and areas of pixels to remain unmodified. The partly modification means the restoration of the non-distinct edges of objects. It is done by reinstating their partly transparent nature and also by subtracting the background color so that only the object color is left in these partly transparent regions. This ensures that the cut-out object will blend or composite correctly with a different background. The cutting objects may be used for collage, scrap-book and greeting card creation. Can you resist? www.dontclick.it is a site dedicated to one purpose: can we, as searchers/users/audience members refrain from clicking madly on a web page?
My question was, well, why should I? Is this one of those weird granola crunchy activist pages that wants me to believe technology is straight from the Debbil and that every time I use anything more advanced than an iron I’m stepping closer and closer to the Region of the Damned? Well, no. Actually it’s kind of cool. The whole thing is a Flash-designed site and you can explore by waving your mouse around. If you accidentally click, which I did, you’ll get a crazy snowstorm and get kicked off the site for ten seconds. From the site, which took forever to copy and write down since I couldn’t click and cut and paste (really, my only complaint):
“I realized that moving the mouse between the clicks mostly results in dead space/time, which could be filled. These facts combined created a challenge. I could not resist: I took away the Click.”
About 15-30 seconds into your visit, you’ll get a survey question asking you whether or not you miss the Click. I did. I’m still trying to figure out the point of this social experiment and why the Click is something we should be thinking about getting rid of, but meanwhile, it’s a fun site and has lots of interesting info (visually very pleasing as well).
