YouTube launches CitizenTube

YouTube has launched a new section on their service named CitizenTube. Apparently, this is the first time the company has hired professional editors to develop a special section on the service.

CitizenTube is basically a new YouTube channel where they are featuring unique political content. The section would display interesting relevant videos hosted on the service itself.

The section is being managed by Steve Grove who has been named the YouTube’s News and Political Editor.

CitizenTube is however totally different from their YouChoose section which is essentially the service’s presidential channel.

One interesting question raised by this new channel is whether the general YouTube visitor is interested in watching the political videos? The service is after all popular for letting people share personal videos.[ CitizenTube ]

I suspect having a single page website will be of more use to the casual voter.
